Hostals in Spain are different to UK Hostels (spelt with an "e") insofar as they usually offer similar accommodation to Hotels, but are usually smaller family run establishments without public rooms or bars, and will not usually have lifts (elevators).  They also do not usually offer evening meals every night.

Hostal California

Hostal California is a small and friendly 'sports hostal' catering mainly for people who are participating in a some kind of sport - be it riding, scuba-diving,  paragliding, hang gliding, mountain biking, walking, sailing, skiing, chilling, relaxing, holidaying - it doesn't matter if you're on your own, with partners, friends or family.  It also caters for people who simply like the idea of a small, cosy, hotel where they are made to feel welcome and 'at home' as opposed to large touristy establishments.

Situated on the Málaga road just as you leave Almuñécar and head for La Herradura, it is easy to find, has ample free parking and offers some stunning views over the white village of Almuñécar to the sea.  Ideal as a base, it is on the doorstep of some of the best Paragliding sites on this coast, and just five minutes from the town of Almuñécar.

It is stylishly decorated in Andalucian-Moorish style. An attractive rustic bar, lounge, dining room and terraces all offer superb views and a relaxing and tranquil atmosphere.  A buffet breakfast is served every morning and the bar opens every evening offering an interesting variety of meals, catering also for vegetarians.  A barbecue is also offered once a week on the terrace.

The rooms are comfortable, with tea / coffee making facilities (a rarity in Spain!), balconies, en-suite bathrooms and warm terracotta-tiled floors. The balconies are south facing with a great views over the village to the sea.

Choice of: Single, Twin rooms (2 single beds), Twin + 1 child, or Family rooms (for a max of 2 adults + 2 children).

Accommodation is on a bed & breakfast basis.
