We are fortunate in having one of the very best walking guides in the area based in this area, and are very excited that for this holiday season we can now offer guided day walks (or shorter by arrangement) at a variety of levels for our walking holiday clients in the Axarquia. 

We offer a variety of guided walks in and around the local sierras of the Axarquia, or alternatively exploring the old coastal mule tracks and hidden coves.  Spectacular holiday walking is found here, all enhanced by the company of an experienced guide, who will help you identify the flora & fauna which is so abundant, as well as fill in the local history & sights such as the ancient threshing circles, or Atalayas (watchtowers) dating from the earliest days of the Moors.

We can only quote from Charles Davies' excellent guide "The Axarquia is one of the world's great places, and among the greatest places within it are the Sierras Tejeda and Almijara, which form the backbone of both of the region and the present publication.  Blessed with high summits, dizzying pinnacles, dramatic crags, deep ravines, dozens of springs, delightful rivers and the best coves on the Costa del Sol, this is an area that has something for everyone".

Guided walking holidays in Sierra Almijara in Andalucia

Our ever popular route down through the Sierra Almijara natural park is available as either a guided or self-guided walk.  Starting at just over 1100m altitude we descend through the park, passing old mills and cortijos, olive & almond groves before passing through a couple of white villages, where we can stop for tapas & refreshments.  Often on this walk we see mountain goats, ibex and occasionally eagles.  Collection in mid afternoon is from a restaurant in a lower village - where we usually relax and finish our walk with a late lunch of their divine chicken in garlic !

Group sizes are always kept small, so you are assured of the best attention from your guide.  Individual routes can easily be tailored to your requirements and abilities, with picnic lunches being provided on all our all day walks.
