Who we are...

Totally Sorted Sports is owned & run by Ian, Julie & Rosie Burgess here in Almuñécar.   We are fully registered with the Mercantil de Granada and are members of the local Patronato de Tourismo (tourist board).

Julie Burgess is originally from Shoreham on Sea (nr Brighton) and was a Senior Nursing Sister in an acute surgical hospital in her previous life, having spent 25 years nursing.  Her passion is the riding side of the business and she worked extensively with the RDA (Riding for the Disabled Association) in Bristol.  She is mad about animals in general.

Ian Burgess was originally from Weston-super-Mare, but lived in Bristol until moving to Spain.  Previously a Senior IT Project Manager for a large bank assurer in England, where he spent many years organised sailing & skiing activity breaks under the guise of team building exercises.  While in UK he raced both dinghies and yachts, before moving to power boat racing in the Zapcat class.

Rosie (full name Roundabout Rosie) was found abandoned on a roundabout just before Xmas 2007.  She is responsible for shoelace chewing and is growing at an alarming rate.

...what we do...

We provide an outdoor activity holiday travel service, focussing on offering bespoke sports and outdoor multi activity holidays in Spain.  Our activity holidays are suitable for both singles and couples, as well as small groups, families with teenagers & young families.  None of the sports or outdoor activities are compulsory, of course - you are free to do as much or as little as you wish - after all you are on holiday!  Most of our outdoor activities are pitched at a level whereby any reasonably fit person can partake and enjoy them.  We take pride in caring for the environment and support Carbon Offsetting your travel along with responsible,  sustainable tourism -see our published Eco Policy for details. 

So what exactly, as an outdoor activity holiday provider, do we do?  Our market is the gap between "full on" specialised outdoor single activity holidays which by their nature can only offer a single pursuit (albeit in a more intense package than us) and a totally independent arrangement whereby you need to organise everything yourself.

We pride ourselves on an individual touch, and work non stop to make sure you have a really special time in a really special area (just see a selection of the comments some of our recent clients have made). 

The nature of our style of outdoor activity holiday is, therefore, more of a series of tasters for you to enjoy on holiday.  To use the bikes as an example - We can offer you some excellent riding on good quality mountain bikes (new Specialized Hard Rock Sports) in some superb countryside, while your partner does their own thing, before meeting up in a typically Andalucían coastal town full of history and character for a typically Spanish night out.  Our page Activity holidays in Spain give a bit more info on what to expect.

...why we do it...

We realise that leisure time nowadays is precious time, but an increasing number of people don't necessarily want to "veg out" on the beach all day and every day.

All too often we found we used to arrive at a foreign resort full of expectations to enjoy outdoor activities like riding, or diving, or whatever, only to find that we spent the first day just trying to find out what was on offer.  The next hurdle was using the phone, in a language we didn't speak that well, to try to book in - with the added challenge that the first available slots were always at the end of the week as everyone over for a fortnight had already booked in for that week.  Next obstacle was that we only had one hire car, but everyone wanted do something different.. well, you get the idea!  Next thing we knew it was time to start packing, and we hadn't managed to do half the things we wanted to.

... how we do it...

One of the questions we were asked is how we manage to offer all the different types of outdoor activity we do without compromising the quality of them.  The answer is that we invested over a year before launching the company identifying & investigating existing activity providers and sporting opportunities in this area.  Then, working with these companies and individuals, we spent further time analysing, planning & organising a way through all their different timings, seasonal variations, cost structures etc to select the partners with whom we operate. 

This has provided us with a robust core of outdoor activities we can provide, with known and trusted suppliers.  With this knowledge, we can then plan and pre-book for you your chosen activity / ies, this providing you with all the enjoyment without any of the hassle in organising the logistics.

• We specialise in small groups in order to provide a personal touch.  For example, with the horse riding we never take out more than 5 per ride so you are assured of individual attention from your guide and no nose to tail plodding along the tracks in long lines.

• We use local specialists to provide most of our activities.  That means we don't try to run everything ourselves and wind up not doing a very good job of everything.  Instead we concentrate on our strengths and use other local experts in their respective fields.

•  We're based in lovely Almuñécar which is a fantastic typically Spanish sea side town.  That means within easy walking distance of your accommodation you have all the historic old town & castle to explore, a myriad tapas bars & restaurants, as well as 26 separate beaches to enjoy!  The Andalucian countryside is all around - the chirimoya fields actually extend into the town alongside Rio Seco.
