Almunecar – August 2020 Cultural Agenda

The August 2020 cultural agenda is now out for Almunecar and La Herradura and there is a fair old selection of events to enjoy in your free time and evenings. This month you can choose from jazz, piano recitals, a 3 Tenors tribute, theatre, recitals, comedy club, a photographic exhibition and, as always, flamenco performances.

5 Quality awards for local beaches

ISO 14001 Award Five local beaches that have obtained the coveted ISO 14001 rating – Playas Cantarriján, La Herradura, San Cristóbal, Puerta del Mar and Velilla. Friday & Sunday Market to Re-Open

Subject to local covid19 situation remaining at a controlled level, the Ayuntamiento have given a cautious go ahead for the Friday market to re start, though with a reduction of the number of stands of 50%. There will also be controls over the direction you can walk in. Re-start date for the general market is set for Friday 3rd July 08:00 – 14:00, with the Rastrillo re-starting on Sun 5th with the same hours. All Read more…

2020 Jazz En La Costa Programme

The artists are now confirmed for the 33rd annual Jazz en la Costa event, albeit slightly slimmed down due to the on going pandemic. The dates are now confirmed for Wed 22nd to Sat 25th July for the main stage acts in Majuelo Park. San Juan 2020

Just a quick reminder that, sadly, this year’s San Juan fiesta on the beaches has been cancelled due to the covid19 issue. The Ayuntamiento has decreed that all beaches will be closed from 19:00 on Tue 23rd to 09:00 on Wed 24th June, with no camping, bonfires, or visiting the beaches permitted. Jazz En La Costa

It looks like this year’s much anticipated 33rd annual Jazz en la Costa may well be going ahead. The date is now set by the Town Hall and festival organisers for Wed 22nd to Sat 25th July all being well. This year the festival will be celebrating it’s 33rd year , reinforcing its position as the most important event of this genre in the entire Andalusian coast. Covid19 – lock-down de-escalation road map for Spain

The Spanish government has overseen a detailed lock-down de-escalation road map for Spain. This consisted of 4 main phases (0, 1, 2 and 3) each of approximately two weeks duration, culminating in the “new normal”.
