Salobreña Coastal Paths Walk
Our Coastal Paths walk follows a coastal trail to the neighbouring town of Salobreña with its spectacular cliff top castle. Originally part of the muleteers route along the coast it has some lovely views over the bays and coves. We start and finish at a local hotel, where you can use the public facilities and pool if you wish.
The route is a self guided walk. As a result you are free to go at your own pace. You’ll be able to spend as much time as you wish at the castle, exploring the old town – or relaxing on the beach.
At the drop off point you will be given a full briefing on the route, with maps and town guides. The route is easy to follow – just keep the sea to your right on the way there and your left on the way back!
The walk takes you along cliff top paths past ancient look out towers perched on headlands, where you can stop overlooking the bright blue sea to enjoy your inclusive picnic lunch. Sections of the path overlook bays where often dolphins can be seen close to the shore, before descending to cross the old sugar cane plantations, with the last remaining sugar factory in Europe at La Caleta.
From here you head towards the castle you can see over the fields. The walk then takes in the old Moorish castle overlooking the town, with plenty of free time to explore Salobreña with its Boveda and labyrinth of narrow streets – or alternatively you can simply head for its beach and relax in a chiringuito. Return is via a causeway alongside the sea thence back to the rendezvous at a cliff top hotel. On arrival back you can relax by the pool before we collect you and bring you back home.
All necessary maps, route notes, points of interest details as well as street plans of Salobreña supplied. The Salobreña Coastal Paths walk includes a picnic lunch.
