The flexible choice winter activity holidays itinerary runs from the last Friday in September until the last Saturday in May. Outside of these dates our summer activity holidays itinerary runs.

All winter activity holidays include: your accommodation choice, daytime airport transfers, welcome meeting with local area and activity briefing inc drinks & tapas, evening welcome dinner with drinks, beach towels, snorkels & masks and your choice of daily activities from our winter itinerary .

Saturday

Airport transfers from Malaga airport as scheduled

Airport transfers are as scheduled. We collect you at the airport and help get you checked in to your accommodation on arrival.
In your room you will have a local info file. This has street maps, local bus times, shop siesta times, local information and much more in it.
Everyone meets up early evening at a local tapas bar for a welcome drink & tapa. Here we do a quick run through of the local area and where everything is. This is followed by a full briefing on your choice of activities where we will answer any questions you may have. After this we go on to a restaurant specialising in local dishes. For starters we normally order a selection of local specialities we can all share. Main courses you choose from the menu. Water, soft drinks, beers and wine included.

Sunday – Choose from:

Almunecar Explore Cycling (snack pack inc).More info.. Self guided cycling route around Almunecar old town, sea fronts and more (snack pack inc). For family or less experienced riders our self-guided Almunecar Explore is a great pick. On this you can spend a relaxing first day taking in the main beaches and cruising the sea front paseos. Explore some of the Roman ruins, statues and key parts of the paseos and visit the Arabic old town. Details & pics

Fisherman’s Path (picnic lunch inc). More info.. A medium length self guided coastal walk over the sea cliffs to neighbouring La Herradura bay (picnic lunch inc). This route first takes in the western paseos (esplanades) of San Cristobal and Cotobro with their chiringuitos (beach bars). Afterwards you then climb the old Camino de los Pescadores (Fisherman’s path) to the neighbouring bay of La Herradura. Details and pictures.

Coastal paths walk (picnic lunch inc) More info.. Our Coastal Paths walk follows a coastal trail to the neighbouring Moorish town of Salobreña with its spectacular Moorish cliff top castle (inc picnic lunch). The walk takes you along cliff top paths past ancient look out towers perched on headlands, where you can stop overlooking the bright blue sea to enjoy your inclusive picnic lunch. From here you often see dolphins close to the shore. You then descend through La Caleta, passing the last remaining sugar factory in Europe. The walk then takes in the old Moorish castle overlooking the town. There is plenty of time to explore Salobreña with its Boveda and labyrinth of narrow streets – or alternatively you can simply head for its beach and relax in a chiringuito. Details and pics.

Monday – Choose from:

Horse riding More info.. Intermediate riders guided 3 hr ride on well trained but forward going Andalucian horses. For experienced riders happy at walk, trot & canter in exposed areas / beaches there is the option of a guided 6 hr ride incl lunch for a small local supplement (you will be sent an experience questionnaire when you book). NB we cannot split the day’s so all group must be either 3 or 6hr rides. Details and pics

Paddle Boarding & Kayak (Conditions permitting). More info.. A great “combo” activity of 2hr Stand Up Paddle boarding followed by an hour of sea kayaking with a great choice of boards and paddles for all abilities Details

Wednesday – Free Day

Skiing / Snow Boarding (Free day option – Local payment applies. Ski season (approx 1st Dec – 30th April). More info.. No winter activity holidays would be complete without a great day’s skiing and snow boarding in Sierra Nevada. Ski pass, ski / snow board / big feet / ski blades, boots, ski pants hire incl. Non skiers welcome, as this is also a great chance to visit the most southerly ski resort in Europe. From the peak of Veleta peak at 3,398m you can see the Riff mountains in Africa on a clear day! Min. no. of 2px rqd for this activity to run. Details, piste map and more info..

Sierra Almijara natural park walk (Inc lunch) (Free day option – Local payment applies. Oct, Nov, May). More info.. A great hike through the natural park, visiting a small pueblo blanco for refreshments before finishing in a hill side restaurant for lunch (inc). A great route down through the Sierra Almijara natural park. Starting at just over 1100m altitude we descend through the park, passing old mills and cortijos, olive & almond groves before passing through a couple of white villages, where we can stop for tapas & refreshments. Often on this walk we see mountain goats, ibex and occasionally see Bonelli’s eagles. We then descend to a lower village above Rio Verde passing through avocado, olive, nisporo, chirimoya and almond groves where we may stop in a hill side restaurant where we usually relax and finish our walk with a late lunch of their divine chicken in garlic! 11.5km in total.

Thursday – Choose from:

Nerja Caves & Frigiliana Excursion. More info..A visit to the world famous caves at Nerja. You then get to explore the beautiful historic white village (pueblo blanco) of Frigiliana. The caves contain the worlds largest column cavern over 30m high and is verified by the Guinness Book of Records. We do a great “self guided” visit using personal state of the art digital audio visual guides. Afterwards, we go up to the award winning village of Frigiliana. Here we explore the old town with it’s lovely craft and leather shops, stopping to sample the local wine. Details and pictures

Evening – Tapas Trail (Option – Local payment applies). More info.. Join us on our optional fun filled Tapas Trail exploring the cobbled streets of the old town with its tapas bars and restaurants. A firm favourite with everyone, Tapas Trail takes us on a tour of the old town below the Arab castle. An excellent way to soak up the atmosphere of the narrow cobbled streets with their myriad bars and shops. You will visit authentic local bars, where in each you can take your pick of either a tubo (medium beer) or a copa (glass) of white or red wine to enjoy with your tapas. Come and enjoy a truly Andalucian experience!

Friday – Choose from:

4×4 Buggy Safari (inc tapas style picnic lunch) More info.. Guided off road half day excursion in Natural Park (inc tapas style picnic lunch). Our brilliant buggy safari is a top pick for everyone! The fully road legal buggies are brilliant fun in the lanes of the surrounding hills & mountains – especially in the heat of summer! Each buggy seats two and is equipped seat belts and hip hugging bucket style seats for your maximum comfort and security. They all have lights, indicators, etc and are fully licensed and insured. Winter Activity Holiday Notes

  • While the activities, dates & timings for all our summer activity holidays are given in good faith, they are subject to change for both operational, safety and weather reasons as certain activities (especially water sports) are highly weather & sea conditions dependent. We cannot therefore guarantee that any one activity will always be on any one particular day, but will always endeavour with regard to the conditions at that time to re-schedule in order to safely accommodate everything as best we can – If this is not possible an alternative will be offered.
  • Please note (especially in off peak season) that provision of some activities are subject to minimum numbers.
